MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — CHAMP Spikes, the Number One Brand on Tour, swept the weekend with victories on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and The Duramed Futures Tour.
The winner of the first ever event in the FedEx Cup playoffs dueled to the finish relying on CHAMP's Scorpion Stinger™ spike to capture a two-shot victory at The Barclays. The champion also took the overall lead in the FedEx Cup standings. CHAMP dominated the leader board as well with all top five finishers wearing a combination of Stinger, ProStinger™ and traditional steel Cermec® CHAMP spikes.
On the LPGA Tour at the Safeway Classic Presented by Pepsi, it was the third-consecutive victory and sixth win of the season for the top ranked female golfer in the world. Once again it was CHAMP's Stinger spike that provided traction and comfort all the way to the finish.
The winner of this week's KLM Open became the European Tour's 16th first-time-winner of the season. Wearing CHAMP's Stinger spike, the 26 year old Englishman birdied the final hole for a closing three under par 67 and a 12 under par 268 aggregate, to take the title by one stroke from his young Dutch competitor.
Meanwhile, the winner, along with the entire field at the Gettysburg Championship on the Duramed Futures Tour chose CHAMP Spikes. CHAMP is the official spike of the Duramed Futures Tour and is the sponsor of the annual CHAMP Eastern Challenge, which concluded this week in Gettysburg. The presentation of the award will be made next week at the I LOVE NY Championship in Albany, NY.
"Just when you thought the season couldn't get any better, something like a weekend sweep comes along," Said Harris MacNeill President of CHAMP Spikes. "Being part of this has been tremendous. The first ever FedEx Cup playoff victory is a great feather in our cap. To have all victories in one weekend from our top selling spike is a true celebration of why we are in business: to provide the best golf spike possible to all types of golfers."
