NEWARK,
OHIO —Following the great success of its
proprietary FiberSteel shafts last year, The
Golfworks announces the release of an all-new
FiberSteel ‘stepless’ design that
combines high performance with the unique PVD
chrome-coated finish, a trademark of the FiberSteel
line.
The new ultralight FiberSteel UL75 CT ‘Constant
Taper’ wood and the FiberSteel Stepless
iron shafts are manufactured to tight tolerances
for consistency from shaft to shaft and designed
to allow for controlled ball flight through
structural engineering. In addition to providing
additional ball flight options to the FiberSteel
line, the two new FiberSteel models combine
the performance advantages of lightweight composites
engineered for specific trajectories with the
unique PVD-coated finish that gives these graphite
shafts the look of steel.
„The geometry of a graphite is critical
in determining the overall feel and playability
of a golf shaft,‰ explains Britt Lindsey,
vice president of technical services and R &
D for The Golfworks. „The constant taper
design tends to eliminate the ‘boardy’
feeling associated with many of the high-performance
graphite shafts on the market that do not have
a consistent taper design from the butt to the
tip. You get a very stable shaft that does not
feel as if it needs to be muscled in order to
perform.‰
The UL75CT wood shaft is a mid 70-gram constant
taper, low torque wood shaft that is designed
for high performance. Precision wrapped to extremely
tight tolerances, the constant taper design
provides consistent feel from the tip through
the butt of the shaft, something lacking from
many non-constant taper designs on the market.
The new FiberSteel stepless iron shaft is a
mid-kick, mid-launch graphite shaft that weighs
75 to 77 grams, lighter than the lightest lightweight
steel shaft. However, unlike many ultralight
steel iron shafts that can feel harsh, the stepless
FiberSteel absorbs vibration like graphite,
because it is 100 percent graphite.
