2005-04-13 - Diamana Shafts Master Augusta

NEWARK, Ohio — Dominating the field at Augusta National, premium Diamana™ graphite shafts designed and manufactured by Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. (MRC) demonstrated outstanding performance and helped to provide an exciting win at this year’s Masters, the PGA’s first major of the 2005 season. The Major victory showcased Diamana shafts on a world stage, and five players finished tied for fifth place or better using Mitsubishi Rayon shafts in their driver or 3-wood. Clubmaker requests for the premium shaft are already pouring into The GolfWorks, the exclusive catalog distributor of Diamana shafts.

“We are very excited to offer the Diamana series to custom clubmakers,” says Mark McCormick, CEO of The GolfWorks. “Mitsubishi Rayon is well-known for making graphite shafts from scratch. Not only does Mitsubishi manufacture the golf shaft, but they manufacture all the raw materials, including the monomer, acrylic fiber, carbon fiber, resin and prepreg. This vertical integrations of materials and engineering makes the new, high-performance Diamana a very exciting, custom-fitting option.”

McCormick further adds that MRC has produced high-quality graphite golf shafts for professional golfers, major golf club OEMs and amateur golfers around the globe for more than 25 years. For Diamana, MRC has customized its resin formulas and fibers to create high-performance materials unavailable to other shaft manufacturers.

At The GolfWorks, the Diamana series is available in six weights and a variety of flexes each designed to meet the needs of even the most demanding player and is the perfect fit for the player looking to optimize the performance of today’s oversized club heads and high performance golf balls. The Diamana Ultra Lightweight shafts weigh in at 53- and 63-grams and are an excellent choice for players with a smooth tempo who want maximum head speed off the tee and a little extra power through impact. The Diamana Midweight shafts (73- and 83-grams) offer a blend of power and stability and are an excellent fairway wood shaft for players using lighter driver shafts. At 93- and 103-grams, the Diamana Heavyweight shafts are designed for maximum stability and feature the lowest torques and heaviest weights in the Diamana series, an excellent choice for players who want a graphite shaft that approaches the weight of steel.
