NEWARK,
OHIO — Re-introducing the ultimate in
dual-weight irons, The GolfWorks has revealed
the next generation in adjustable-weight engineering — the
all-new KE4 irons, a dual adjustable-weight
iron design with more versatility and playability
than any other iron design on the market today.
More than two years in development, the new KE4
irons provide the ultimate in custom-fitting
with four different weighting options made possible
by a variety of metal screws of differing weight
and metal composition. With weighted screws available
in aluminum (2-gram), stainless steel (4- and
6-gram), and heavier tungsten (8-gram), custom
clubmakers can easily configure irons for a wide
variety of fitting needs.
“The versatility of this design makes the
KE4 irons perfect for customizing club building
options,
and we’re so excited about these irons
that we simply couldn’t wait until 2006
to release them,” says Britt Lindsey, vice
president of technical services for The GolfWorks. “The
KE4 irons allow for nearly unlimited head weight,
mass distribution, finished club length and shaft
selection options. They can be lightened for
longer-than-standard club lengths or the head
weight can be increased to allow lightweight
steel and graphite shafts to be used without
sacrificing manageable club length.”
Lindsey explains that the mass of the KE4 irons
can be re-distributed towards the toe or heel
as needed for improved feel and performance for
players who consistently miss the center of the
club face. The adjustable weighting feature also
makes the KE4 irons a great choice for women’s
clubs.
“In addition, the KE4 irons achieved an
ultra-playable Maltby Playability Factor rating
of more than
1000 points which is a rating so high that it
is usually obtained only through an extreme profile,” adds
Lindsey. “But the KE4 offers extreme playability
while maintaining a more traditional profile.”
GolfWorks introduced the first dual adjustable
weight iron with the Kinetic Energy irons in
1989, but recent advances in investment casting
technology has allowed for the new KE4 design
and its incredibly easy weight adjustment system
that completely eliminates the need for lead
tape or hosel weighting. Cosmetically, the new
irons feature a mirror polish finish on the perimeter
and sole, and a non-glare satin finish on the
club face’s toe area. The top line is also
non-glare with a bead-blast finish matching the
club face.
KE4 Key Features:
•
Progressive offset in the 3- through 7-iron and
a constant offset in the 8-iron through GW;
•
Moderate sole widths coupled with 3° bounce
in the 3- through 9-irons (4° in the PW & GW)
provide optimum performance in a variety of turf
conditions;
•
Undercut cavity;
•
U-Grooves for maximum spin control;
•
Double heat-treated 431 stainless steel.
Plus, GolfWorks is offering a ‘Try Before
You Buy’ program for the KE4 irons. Golfers
and clubmakers can purchase 5-, 6- or 7-iron
and use the iron as a demo. “We believe
the results will speak for themselves,” says
Lindsey.
MSRP is $13.95 per head unassembled; $49.95 assembled
with multi-step steel shaft and Maltby grip.
