TORRINGTON,
Conn. — Precision Saber™ graphite
shafts by Royal Precision may have turned the
pros heads in its first year on Tour, but this
year, Saber’s advanced launch technology
is cutting into the money. This week at the
Nissan Open, Saber shafts earned two coveted
money-positions among the Top Seven players,
including a tie for third-place.
“Without question, the pros are discovering
the benefits of the Saber graphite shafts,” says
John Lauchnor, president and CEO of Royal Precision. “Saber
was golf’s first graphite shaft brand to
fully dedicate itself to advanced launch design,
and we have clearly worked ‘out of the
box’ in order to achieve real results.
For example, our engineers have strategically
positioned tungsten microfibers and special amorphous
material in the tip and other key zones of Saber
shafts to enhance stability and control. This
unique material engineering combined with advanced
flexural analysis has provided unparalleled results
in increased energy transfer at impact for higher
ball velocity and greater distance.”
Saber achieves an unprecedented level of launch
control through a combination of ‘amorphous’ nanostructure
technology, ultra-sophisticated material engineering
and Energy Inertia (E.I.) Curves, a unique shaft
analysis process that precisely gauges the stiffness
distribution of a golf shaft from tip to butt.
The combination of technologies also custom-tailors
Saber shafts to provide very distinctive launch
vectors and controlled spin rates to achieve
the optimal launch conditions for a player’s
specific needs.
Originally available in Saber and Saber Tour
Vector Woods, Royal Precision expanded the line
in 2005 to include the Saber High Vector that
softens the lower 16-18 inches of the shaft for
higher launch, a design feature far more effective
than so-called ‘tip soft’ shafts
which typically only focus on a six-inch tip
section; the new Saber Tour Low Vector that stiffens
the lower section of the shaft to produce a 4-
to 5-degree lower trajectory with a 1500-2000
rpm ball spin rate — flight characteristics
often preferred by advanced players; and the
new Saber Hybrid Utility Wood and Iron feature
unique launch characteristics especially designed
for shorter-length utility clubs which often
require rapid launch from tough ground conditions.
