- UST Shafts Top Two Tours |
FORT
WORTH, Texas — Premium graphite shafts
designed and manufactured by United Sports Technologies® (UST)
won top money positions on two pro tours. Garnering
seven Top 10 positions on the weekend, UST graphite
shafts won the LaSalle Bank Open on the Nationwide
Tour and the all-new Proforce® V2 shaft claimed
second-place on the PGA Tour.
The Nationwide Tour’s hottest player continued
to outperform the competition, handily winning
the LaSalle Bank Open playing with the premium
Accra® SE80 graphite shafts in his Nike Ignite
driver and T60 three- and five-wood. The 2005
champion was also the only player in the field
to shoot four sub-70 rounds. Meanwhile on the
PGA Tour, all of UST’s graphite shaft brands — Accra,
IROD®, Harmon Tour Design® (HTD) and
Proforce — won Top 10 honors at the Booz
Allen Classic, and the IROD Hybrid shaft was
once again the most widely used hybrid shaft
among the PGA pros.
“
We congratulate this year’s winner of the
LaSalle Bank Open on a terrific victory,” says
Shawn Mullin, PGA Tour representative for UST. “But
another one of this weekend’s biggest stories
is how the new V2 shaft is making waves on the
PGA Tour. UST has always produced some of the
world’s most technologically advanced graphite
shafts, and the V2’s rising popularity
among the best players in the world is a solid
indication of how well the V2 performs. It’s
incredibly stable and consistent and, quite frankly,
it’s the hottest graphite shaft on the
PGA Tour.”
The V2 features an extremely low-torque design
that is optimized for today’s 400cc to
460cc heads. In most of the larger driver and
fairway wood heads, the clubhead’s center
of gravity is positioned further away from the
shaft’s center line and that causes more
twisting pressure on the shaft. However, the
V2’s low-torque design helps prevent clubheads
from twisting open on impact, thus limiting the
amount of back spin imparted onto the ball and
transferring more energy at impact. The new Proforce
V2 also incorporates UST’s revolutionary ‘hoop
strength’ technology that uses a material
lay up (or 90-degree material design) and helps
the shaft recover faster when loaded or flexed.
