- Proforce V2 Crowns New CGA Champion |
FORT
WORTH, Texas — For the fourth consecutive
week since its official launch, the all-new Proforce
V2 graphite shaft by United Sports Technologies
(UST) has either won or placed in the Top 10
at a pro event. This week, the V2 not only won
second-place at the NE Pennsylvania Classic on
the Nationwide Tour, but also helped a 46-year-old
financial executive capture the California Golf
Association’s Amateur Championship at fabled
Pebble Beach.
Playing all-new Proforce V2 graphite shafts in
his Cleveland Launcher 460 Comp driver and TaylorMade
V Steel fairway wood, Fidelity National Financial
vice president Don DuBois became the second-oldest
player ever to win the prestigious CGA Amateur
Championship and joins a list of past champions
that includes Ken Venturi, Johnny Miller and
Mark O’Meara.
'It’s not just the young guns who
are discovering the distance and accuracy benefits
of UST shafts,
and we congratulate Don on a great victory with
the new Proforce V2,” says Jim McIntosh,
tour representative for UST. “The V2 is
the hottest new shaft on the pro tours. There
were 17 V2’s in play at the Barclays Classic
and another seven in play at the NE Pennsylvania
Classic this weekend, and these are big numbers
for a shaft design that was just introduced to
the golfing public three weeks earlier. I think
the V2’s praise among these exceptional
players is a strong endorsement as to the shaft’s
incredible stability and consistency.”
The V2 features an extremely low-torque design
that is optimized for today’s 400cc to
460cc heads. In most of the larger driver and
fairway wood heads, the clubhead’s center
of gravity is positioned further away from the
shaft’s center line and that causes more
twisting pressure on the shaft. However, the
V2’s low-torque design helps prevent clubheads
from twisting open on impact, thus limiting the
amount of back spin imparted onto the ball and
transferring more energy at impact. The new Proforce
V2 also incorporates UST’s revolutionary ‘hoop
strength’ technology that uses a material
lay up (or 90-degree material design) and helps
the shaft recover faster when loaded or flexed.
DuBois, who works with world-renowned golf instructor
Butch Harmon, was custom-fit with the Proforce
V2 at Orr’s Custom Golf of Orange, Calif.
DuBois spent six years as a pro and played in
the U.S. Open in 1986 and 1988. He has twice
reached the State Amateur quarter finals and
captured the Arizona State Amateur in 1980 while
attending Arizona State.
