- UST’s Proforce Wins Cialis Western
Open |
FORT
WORTH, Texas — With its now legendary flash
of purple and gold, the Proforce graphite shaft
by United Sports Technologies® (UST) once
again demonstrated why it is one of the most
successful graphite shaft designs in golf history.
With a classic Proforce® 65 shaft in his
Titleist 983K driver, this year’s Cialis
Western Open champion shot a 2-under 69 on Sunday,
winning the tournament at 14-under.
In addition to the victory, UST graphite shaft
usage among PGA Tour players set a new company
record with 80 wood shafts in play, propelling
UST to the No. 2 position among all shaft manufacturers.
UST shafts earned six of the Top 10 money positions — two
of which were claimed by the hottest, new shaft
on the PGA Tour, the all-new Proforce V2.
“UST has always produced some of the world’s
most innovative graphite shafts, and the incredible
staying power of the Proforce graphite shaft
on Tour is a real testament to the consistency
and dependability of UST engineering,” says
Shawn Mullin, PGA Tour representative for UST. “While
the classic Proforce is still winning PGA events,
the all-new V2 takes the Proforce line to an
even higher level. Not only does the V2 feature
a low-torque design to enhance performance of
today’s larger driver and fairway wood
heads, but it also incorporates UST’s revolutionary ‘hoop
strength’ technology that helps the shaft
recover faster when loaded or flexed.”
According to Mullin, the new Proforce V2 provides
an extremely low-torque design that optimizes
the performance of 400cc to 460cc heads. Most
of today’s larger driver and fairway wood
heads position the center of gravity further
away from the shaft’s center line, a design
characteristic that causes more twisting pressure
on the shaft. However, the low-torque design
of the V2 helps prevents clubheads from twisting
open on impact, thus limiting the amount of back
spin imparted onto the ball and transferring
more energy at impact.
