- UST’s IROD® Wins John Deere Classic |
FORT WORTH,
Texas — The innovative IROD® Hybrid
graphite shaft by United Sports Technologies® (UST)
is well-known as the most popular hybrid shaft
on the PGA and Nationwide Tours, but it’s
known for delivering Tour-winning performance.
In only his 18th career start, a 22-year-old
rookie entrusted his critical long iron performance
to an IROD Hybrid shaft at the John Deere Classic
and won his first PGA Tour victory. With his
Tour Bazooka JMAX 2-iron upgraded with an IROD
Hybrid graphite shaft, he finished with a 6-under
65 on Sunday to claim the lead and the win.
“
The IROD Hybrid continues to be the 2005 season’s
No.1 true hybrid shaft on the PGA and Nationwide
Tours,” says Shawn Mullin, PGA Tour representative
for UST. “So it’s no surprise that
other ‘hybrid’ options have appeared
on the market in the wake of IROD’s phenomenal
success. At UST, we’re extremely pleased
that the best players in the world recognize
that true hybrid shafts feature very specific
design characteristics which maximize hybrid
club and long iron performance.”
Recently, the editors of Golf Tips honored the
IROD shaft with their prestigious Golf Tips Tech
Awards and selected the IROD over all other hybrid
design shafts for pushing technology to the limit. ‘Most
people still believe graphite shaft upgrades
are strictly for drivers,” wrote Golf Tips’ editors, “but
UST has proven that graphite shafts can make
a significant impact on fairway woods, hybrid
clubs and long irons as well. IROD shafts are
specially designed to create a higher trajectory,
add more distance, enhance stability and lend
better shot control than standard steel shaft
options.”
The IROD Hybrid graphite shaft features Interlinked
Carbon™, an innovative carbon fiber technology
that has been combined with UST’s touted
advancements in shaft tip design. Unlike the ‘invisible
technologies’ of many graphite shafts,
IROD’s custom-engineered carbon fiber material
is clearly visible on the butt section of every
shaft. As a part of new Interlinked Carbon technology,
high modulus graphite fibers are specially woven
to provide hoop strength and stiffness. Fibers
running vertically provide stiffness while the
fibers running at 90 degrees prevent the shaft
from deforming or flattening under load.
The IROD Hybrid shafts are available as a driver,
fairway wood and long iron designs. The IROD
Long-Iron shaft is specifically designed to put
the difficult-to-hit 2-, 3- and 4-irons back
in the golf bag by producing a high trajectory
shot from the most difficult lies. The IROD Hybrid
Fairway shaft produces a tight shot dispersion,
while the IROD Hybrid Utility shaft technology
focuses on both accuracy and maximum distance
control.
